چکیده

The model independent procedure of extracting charge density distributions from elastic electron scattering data is investigated. The charge density distributions are expanded on an orthonormal basis and the parameters of the expansions are fixed by the comparison with the experimental data. Two bases with different analytical properties (Fourier-Bessel and Hermite) are used. This allows us to disentangle the uncertainties coming from the choice of the expansion basis from those intrinsic to the extraction procedure. We design a set of tests to select the number of the expansion coefficients adequate for a proper description of the data. The procedure is applied to elastic data measured on C, Ca and Pb nuclei.

Mean-field Description of Nuclear Charge Density Distributions

We propose a method to extract nuclear charge distributions from elastic electron scattering data based upon a mean field approach. The nuclear charge distributions are generated by solving the Schrödinger equation with a mean-field potential expanded in terms of Hermite functions. The coefficients of the potential are changed in order to obtain the best fit with the cross section data. Applica...

Modeling Magnetic Field in Heavy ion Collisions Using Two Different Nuclear Charge Density Distributions

By studying the properties of matter during heavy-ion collisions, a better understanding of the Quark-Gluon plasma is possible. One of the main areas of this study is the calculation of the magnetic field, particularly how the values of conductivity affects this field and how the field strength changes with proper time. In matching the theoretical calculations with results obtained in lab, two diffe...

We seek a measure of the neutron density of Pb from analyses of intermediate energy nucleon elastic scattering. The pertinent model for such analyses is based on coordinate space nonlocal optical potentials obtained from model nuclear ground state densities. Those potentials give predictions of integral observables and of angular distributions which show sensitivity to the neutron density. When...

Nuclear charge densities with the Skyrme Hartree-Fock method

Charge-density distributions and the associated nuclear radii are calculated with the Hartree-Fock method for comparison with available data from electron scattering. Two forms of Skyrme interactions are used for the calculations. As a further refinement the single-particle occupancies are constrained to values obtained from shell-model calculations. A significant improvement in the agreement i...
